I LOVE color. And not just bold and saturated colors. I find beauty in the lightest and palest of colors. Standing in a fabric shop brings joy to me like a kid in a five-story candy store. The texture and movement of fabric and trims on my fingers gives me the giggles. If It Barks designs come from a peaceful place within that is inspired by nature - sea scapes, mountain views, desert hills - and by the details of nature - peacock feathers, ripples in the water and the color variations of a pecan shell. I used to say to my mother "I want to do something creative." Those were the days of unfinished craft projects when I ended up making more of a mess rather than actually completing a project... still, my desire to do something creative has never left my soul. I do get my fill of creativity daily as a professional graphic designer, but my more whimsical creative outlet has become quilting. I have always had a love for color, pattern and texture, but I think it’s the hands on and unique finished product that keeps me sewing and always creating new projects.
